Easter 2008

We had a great Easter here in Kansas. We went to the church for a Easter breakfast on Saturday and an egg hunt and then that night we went to the church and had a potluck dinner, egg hunt, and games. I thought that it went well. We had a ton of fun and a ton of laughs. Thanks to all that came and made it a great night. And also thanks to Sally for helping me put it together. Hope you enjoy the slideshow I put together.

Nauvoo Trip

I am sorry that it has taken me so long to post these, but we were having to much fun in Nauvoo that I didn't have time for blogging. So here are a few pictures and I will try and get a slide show together and post it.

This is the beautiful Nauvoo Temple. It is absolutely gorgeous inside. It is all done with dark wood. They even have dark wood floors. The best part was standing in the basement and looking up the spiral staircase to the very top. We were so thankful that we got to go through a session.

This was taken on Tuesday morning when it was foggy outside.

At the living center they had all these fun demonstrations. This was the best one cause they let us try some bread. It was so good that I am still craving it. They also showed us how to spin wool, dip candles, how to make barrels, and how to make a rope.

When we got there on Monday we first stopped at Carthage Jail, but I couldn't find my camera so we didn't get any pictures. But when we got to Nauvoo it was pouring rain so all we were able to do is go to the Visitor's center.

I love this picture of Blake and Rylee.

Rylee loved this statue of Christ. She spent most of her time trying to give Jesus a hug. It was so sweet.

This is the podium at the Seventies Hall. We learned that missionaries used to be called seventies instead of elders. The hall was built as a place for the missionaries to go learn there languages and things. Upstairs they had some old artifacts that they had dug up from different places in Nauvoo. They had some old dishes that belonged to Brigham Young.

Our family standing in front of the statue of Christ.

When we went to the brickyard there was already a group doing the tour so we had to wait for them. Paige and Paige had fun playing in the dirt out back.

All in all it was a great trip. We went from March 17-March 20 and it was so much fun. We shared a hotel room that had a kitchen with our good friends Brenden and Brandi Rodgers. It was great to get away and spend some time with Blake.

Hitting the road

It is finally spring break here in Topeka, Kansas and so we are headed off to Nauvoo, Illinois with our good friends the Rogers'. We are leaving at the ripe ol' time of 4am so that we can get there early and get to the sight seeing. We are so excited to finally have some time to relax and to be able to go see Nauvoo and see where the early church things happened. So that is where we are going to be until Thursday night so if you don't hear from us that is why. Hope you all have a great week.

Sunday Calls

We have started a few traditions in our house lately and one of those is calling Blake's mom and Dad on Sunday night before the girls go to bed. Paige loves to talk and looks so grown up when she does it. This was her talking to Papa last Sunday.

Teeth

No matter where Rylee is in the house she comes running when she heres the water turn on for Blake or I to brush our teeth. She will run up and say "teeth" and then open her mouth as wide as it will go so that you can brush her teeth. It is so cute.

Picnic Time

One more post. Yesterday was an okay day so we had taken the kids to the park and met some friends there. Then last night we thought that it would be fun to surprise Blake and have dinner out on the balcony, like a picnic. It was really fun. Rylee liked that she didn't have to sit in a high chair.

Pretty girl

I was doing Paige's hair this morning and looked down at Rylee and saw something pink on her face. Well she had gotten a hold of Paige's cherry chapstick and decided that she would look really pretty with it on her lips....... and face, and eyelid.

Sunday fun

Sunday was such a great day. It was warm outside so we took the girls and our bikes to the park. We got all unloaded and pumped up Blake's tire and it wouldn't hold the air. His tube had popped. So the girls and I started out on a ride and heard "Hi Paige". Our friends the Fishers were at the park and so we played hide and seek with them and hung out and then went to their house for dinner. It was a great day to hang out with Blake and friends.

Rylee was so tired the other day that she fell asleep sitting up on my bed. So sweet.

A new me

These are not the best pictures because I hate getting my picture taken and I am still getting used to my new hair. A few days ago I decided that it would be fun to chop off my hair. So with encouragement from Blake I made an appointment and chopped it yesterday. I really love it. It is really fun to play with and my head feels a lot lighter. I have never had my hair this short before so it is a really nice change. Just the thing I need this week to put me in a better mood.

Fly Lady

I have been slacking lately about blogging on this great book SINK REFLECTIONS. So the next part that I read was she said you need to get up first thing in the morning and get dressed. Not just in sweats and a baggy T-shirt but in some nice clothes and the most important part is that you need to put on some shoes. The kind of shoes that lace up so that you can't just slip them off any time you want. She says that if you do this then you will get more done. I feel the same way. Even though I have not followed through on this suggestion yet (not really a shoe girl), I know that when I have them on I feel more energetic and able to get more on. So I challenge all of you to get up tomorrow morning and put your shoes on and see how much you get accomplished. One of these days I will do this challenge myself.

Going Camping

I got a new calling yesterday at church and I am so excited for it. I am the assistant girl's camp assistant. So at the end of June I get to go camping for a week without my family (sad). I am so excited to be able to be going. I have only gone once in my life and that was just when I was a leader. I only went for 2 days cause Paige was little and I didn't want to leave her for that long. This year I am finding babysitters and going the whole time. Have I mentioned that I am really excited.
